Álvaro Barbosa (Angola, 1970) is an Academic and an Experimental Media Artis based in Macau, S.A.R., China. He is a Full-Professor of Communication and Media, and presently the Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Outreach at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). Prior to his present position, He Served as Dean of the Faculty of Creative Industries at USJ from 2012 to 2018 and before that as head of the Sound and Image Department at the School of Arts from the Catholic University of Portugal, where he retains a permanent Professorship affiliation. In 1995 He concluded a Graduate Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Aveiro, in 2006 a PhD in Computer Science and Digital Communication by the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and in 2011 he concluded a Post-Doc in Networked Music Research at Stanford University in the California, USA.
